Bobby Izquierdo light painting a still life composition at Oasis Studio
Fine Art Photographer
Bobby Izquierdo is a fine art photographer who loves to create stunning images that look like paintings. He uses photographic software post-processing to convert photographs. His recent works involve transforming daytime photos into nighttime scenes using Lightroom mask tools and Photoshop. The process is like light painting but doing it using software rather than lighting the scene when taking the photograph. But his true passion lies in still-life photography, where he uses light painting to bring out the beauty in ordinary objects like cameras, electronics, fruits, and flowers.
He takes a unique approach by photographing each element of the composition individually and then blending them in Photoshop to create the final image. This sculpting with light process gives him complete control over the highlights and shadows, resulting in breathtaking artwork. He always strives to create beautiful fine art photography that inspires and captivates him and others.
He’s learned from many great photographers, such as Harold Ross, Chema Madoz, Jerry Uelsmann,, Freeman Patterson, Michael Freeman as well as fine art painters Edward Hopper, Rene Magritte, Jos Van Riswick, Sarah Lamb, and Henk Helmantel
His former career was as an electrical engineer since 1982; he retired in March 2023. He moved to Cary, NC, in 1988 as a work transfer. He and his wife moved to Pittsboro in 2016, where they built a home with a photography studio named Oasis Studio at Meadowview. He has a wonderful wife, Paula; two daughters, Joanna and Christina; five grandchildren, Emma, Elaina, Sullivan, Harper, and Ava; and three dogs, Frank, Mickey, and Furby.
