I am pleased to announce that I will be the featured artist for the Show of Hands Gallery grand opening and reception at 80 Hillsboro Street in downtown Pittsboro. Join me to view and discuss my artwork. There will be snacks and drinks.

The exhibit brings together my still life light painting fine art photography, the same body of work featured throughout my still life light painting gallery. Each piece is built one light pass at a time: a single subject, arranged and lit entirely by hand in complete darkness, with no ambient light in the frame.

Show of Hands Gallery sits in the heart of downtown Pittsboro, part of the town’s growing gallery and studio scene. Being the featured artist for the Show of Hands Gallery grand opening gives me a chance to talk through my process directly with visitors: how a still life comes together in complete darkness, one exposure and one light pass at a time, and how a finished still life light painting differs from a photograph made under continuous studio light.

If you’re in the Pittsboro area, stop by the reception to see the still life light paintings in person, meet me, and hear more about how each image is made before it is ever printed.

Enjoy this kind of work?

I write The Art of Light and Shadow — stories about photography, light, and the creative process behind each image.
